I had this idea several years ago and I’m starting to think about it again. A one stop shop dedicated to entertainment. Audio, lighting, video, live recording, merch. Everything from lighting a stage show down to the buttons on the emo kid’s Vans and the CD is his hand. There would be the on-line aspect which could be a full time job during the day and the rock shows at nights and on the weekends. If you were a corporate event planner and needed someone to run sound for a band, t-shirts made for the event, perhaps fliers and maybe a website for the event - why not do it all in one place? I was also thinking about brokering entertainment. DJs, musicians, and speakers for a small booking fee. I wouldn’t need that many people to do it either. I would be able to handle most of it myself. I obviously wouldn’t open shop at full steam but I would be able to handle small runs of buttons and stickers on my own, maybe pull over some of my designer buddies to help if custom art work was needed. I really need to be my own boss.
I’ve been doing some free lance training lately and that’s been really rewarding. I’m able to charge a fair price and I’ve had repeat business. They must like my teaching style. I also prepare training aides and cheat sheets which they really like. It’s true, work for free or full price but never cheap. The Techsperts had some momentum for a couple of months but that went by the way side. I wouldn’t mind rehashing that project and targeting some local areas and taking in some infected computers to clean up.
If I started now, I think I could have something sustainable in 3 years. The business would have to be able to pay for itself and put Maddie through college before I could consider quitting my day job. Knowing that there may be an end to the 9-5 working for someone else is really all the motivation I need. Maybe I should talk to Jean about this…..
I have recently been made aware that I’m not blogging enough. My apologies to the 5 people that read this crap :) For the quick recap: I got married, way cool. We went to Lake Geneva, kinda crap. Cool lake, lame town. I would not recommend. The iPhones have been pre-ordered so I hope those come in soon. We picked up a 32 and a 16. Can you guess who got the 32? It’s been a super busy time for me hence the lack of posts. Since the wedding I’ve tried to take a couple of days off here - I’ve been working on a stage for the Emisis guys. It has to be ready by Friday for the Taste of CP. I also have to pick up a new light for them since one of them was damaged at our wedding. We plan to finish up the stage tonight. Can you guess who will be carrying the stage? So we’ve got that going on. We’ve put together a few ambitious songs for our next practice. I’m looking forward to trying them out. We’re on a break for the next 2 weeks. We’ve got vacations in the band an I have surgery next week. Yup, for those of you that have read the last few posts or that don’t follow me on Facebook, what are you doing here exactly? I’m getting my gallbladder removed next week. I’m not looking forward to the surgery but looking forward to feeling better when it’s all over with. The 4th may suck this year but I should be towards the end of my recovery. I guess we’ll see how it goes. If you’re my friend and will be around on the 4th we’re planning on making apple pie shots again this year. That’s how to get friends, tempt them with delicious, highly potent alcoholic beverages. OK, I’ve got work to do tonight so I’m gonna call it quits for today, I’ve got a website and some stages to finish. I’ll try to post more often. I promise to think about posting more often.

We didn’t register but it would make a wonderful wedding present. Hint, Hint…. Would it be wrong to register for one for the baby too?
